Disc Printing
Let Marcan help you determine the best disc printing technique to use for your project.
Full color label
With Marcan's proprietary full color label printing, you receive an
image which is both rich in color, and durable. The image is created
from a four color image (cmyk) and digitally printed on a proprietary
Marcan developed label stock.

Thermal re-transfer
Thermal re-transfer refers to a method of disc surface printing where
the entire label image is first transferred to a plastic transfer
ribbon one color at a time. The finished image is then retransferred to
the disc. Thermal re-transfer allows label designers to create designs
that incorporate edge to edge printing and printing on the hub of the
disc.

Silk-screen
Screen printing uses a porous mesh screen with an
ink-resistant image on its surface as a template to transfer ink to
substrates. A silk-screen has a resolution of 75 lines/inch, is ideally
suited for pantone and 4-color CMYK process designs. Pantone or PMS
colors are identified with numbers much like house paint. They are
“pure pigment inks” an are mixed before they are printed. This creates
a solid, rich color on your CD or DVD. The selection of pantone colors
will help you achieve the best results for designs that include text
and a background color on your disc.

Offset printing
If your disc art is a photograph or a full-color
scan then the offset printing option delivers superior resolution and
clarity. This type of printing is used only for CMYK files which
require increased resolution to capture the likeness of an image.
Offset printing on the disc has a higher resolution in comparison to
silk-screen. It’s resolution of 150 lines per inch can create a
realistic representation of a dynamic image. While the result of this
process can be stunning for photographic images, it is inferior to a
pantone silk-screen for trying to match rich and solid colors.
